Who's tried the Raspberry Pi 5 for DIY projects?

Now that the Raspberry Pi 5 is out, I’m curious about how it performs in DIY projects compared to the Raspberry Pi 4, which I’ve been using for various builds. It seems like the new model might bring some significant performance enhancements. Has anyone had a chance to test it yet?

I’m especially interested in its multitasking capabilities and whether the new features truly benefit applications like home automation or media centers. Any details on changes to the GPIO pin layout or compatibility with existing accessories would be great too. Do you think it’s worth upgrading to this version?

I just got the Raspberry Pi 5 and so far, it’s a big step up from the 4 when running multiple apps at once. For home automation, the new features make a noticeable difference, especially with the speed. I haven’t dug into the GPIO pin stuff much yet, but I’ve heard they kept most of the compatibility. Upgrading seems worth it if you need that extra power!

I’ve played around with the Raspberry Pi 5 for a few home automation projects, and it definitely handles multitasking way better than the 4. The new video support is a game changer for media centers too! The GPIO layout is mostly the same, so most of my old accessories work fine. I’d say if you’re into more demanding tasks, it’s worth the upgrade!
